Last Thursday, the two Torino Social Impact Communities of Practice met: Communication and Gender Equality, which I am pleased to facilitate.
This dialogue between distinct communities of practice is highly stimulating for the exchange of different worlds and sensibilities, which can thus mutually influence one another.
I introduced the topic of inclusive communication: an approach expressed through language, images, and tools capable of representing and respecting people’s diversity, promoting equal dignity and accessibility for all.
It is a topic that, more than others, sparks conflicting opinions, but precisely for this reason, it is urgent and necessary to address it.
In addition to gender equality, we touched on two other key areas:
Disability: to move beyond pity or invisibility, or the identification of people with disabilities.
Ageism: to include all ages with respect and value.
I concluded with a conviction: inclusive communication is not a cost, but a strategic lever for growth and competitiveness. The data confirms this: increased turnover, broader markets, a solid reputation, and more productive work environments.
Then we turned to contributions:
- With Enaip Piemonte, we discussed Career Alias, widespread training, and youth leadership.
- With Punto Zero, we explored narrative reframing: re-signifying frameworks and imagery to generate social impact.
It was a rich and enriching meeting. Projects and methods that value diversity emerged: a crucial point for building, together, a positive and lasting cultural change, without taking any steps backward.
Here is a report of the meeting.
