On Saturday, May 12th, in Turin, we celebrated the fifth significant milestone of AIxWOMEN, the project that intertwines artificial intelligence, gender, and social innovation.
It was a pleasure to contribute to the organization of this day, rich in interdisciplinary insights and perspectives, hosted at the Luigi Einaudi Campus of the University of Turin, particularly as an ambassador for Donne 4.0 and a member of the Scientific Committee of CIRSDe, the Interdisciplinary Center for Research and Studies on Women and Gender.
Collaborations with Women in AI Italy and Torino Città per le Donne+, were also important.
In my speech, I emphasized a point I consider central: the alliance between AI, gender equality, and transfeminisms is not only necessary, it is urgent. Because every technology reflects a system of values, if we want a fair, inclusive, and aware AI, we must question it, starting with the bodies, languages, and relationships that it often excludes or simplifies.
“Including women in AI isn’t enough, even though it represents a necessary first step. We need to rewrite the questions, rethink the models, and infuse the algorithms with critical thinking and a transfeminist vision.”
I would like to thank all the speakers for the quality of their presentations and for integrating them seamlessly, covering different disciplines and points of view: Joëlle Long, Roberta Russo, Chiara Foglietta, Patrizia Palazzi, Veronica Brizzi, Rosa Meo, Massimo Durante, Maria Laura Di Tommaso, Federica Turco, Viviana Patti, Marinella Belluati, Daniele Paolo Radicioni.

AIxWOMEN continues its journey with passion and vision. Innovation is never neutral. And building it together, with interdisciplinary approaches and alliances, is the best way to direct it toward the common good. This is the intent.
In MagIA. Artificial Intelligence Magazine, I described the heart of this project.
