On Thursday, November 14, in the evocative Sala della Lupa, the Chamber of Deputies, we presented UN Women Italy. This occasion was the perfect opportunity to launch the UNITE – Orange the World campaign, promoted annually by UN Women to raise awareness of gender-based violence, ahead of the upcoming International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (#25November).
This issue has always been at the heart of my commitment, as I believe that gender-based violence is not a standalone issue but rather concerns gender equality as a whole, starting with the need to work towards cultural change.
With the symbolic color orange, we invite everyone to “shine light” on this issue and take action for a society free from all forms of violence. #NoExcuse #Orangetheworld #Unite #StopGenderViolence.
We are already receiving many signatures!
Our goal is to unite forces from different worlds—institutions, businesses, and associations—who speak different languages, but can support concrete projects that move in the same direction.
Every alliance, every project, every small step is essential to building a better and more just world for everyone, in Italy and globally.
I thank everyone who participated, the speakers, and the entire board of directors, with whom I began this adventure: Darya Majidi, Caterina Tonini, Loredana Grimaldi, Corrado Tomassini, Laura Dell’Aquila, Paola Corna Pellegrini, Isabella Fumagalli, and Katja Besseghini.
It is a privilege and a responsibility to carry out this mission with UN Women Italy.
