In Matera, coinciding with the Ministerial Meeting on Gender and Women’s Empowerment, the Italian National Committee of UN Women Italy was officially presented in the presence of Sima Bahous, Executive Director of UN Women, to support and promote gender equality and women’s empowerment.
I am honored to serve on its board alongside President Darya Majidi, Caterina Tonini, Loredana Grimaldi, Katja Besseghini, Paola Corna Pellegrini, Isabella Fumagalli, Laura Dell’Aquila, and Corrado Tomassini.
A team of people with diverse backgrounds and skills that complement each other well, and which President Darya Majidi has successfully built.
We are united by our passion and desire to serve the cause of gender equality.
The main objectives of the new national committee in Italy will focus on projects to raise public awareness and positively influence national policies.
Our initiatives will focus on combating gender-based violence, actively involving men in supporting women, promoting leadership among girls and younger generations, and enhancing women’s work.
My dream is coming true: to continue working on gender equality at an international level, which can provide innovative and unprecedented momentum to the Italian context as well, accelerating the process of closing the gender gap.
