On October 8th, I participated in Digital Innovation Days Italy as an expert at the thematic working group entitled: “Equity by Design: Creating Fairer Systems with AI,” as an ambassador for Women in AI Italy, community partner.
Together with a group of experts, we discussed a crucial question: how can we design a future in which human and artificial intelligence collaborate to reduce inequalities, rather than replicate them?
The roundtable, curated by Rosy Cosco (DE&I consultant and vice president of Young Women Network) and facilitated by Erica Melloni (Matter Group), was a space for dialogue and co-creation to develop concrete proposals and recommendations to support gender equality in organizations.
From data to decision-making processes, from selection tools to corporate culture, we explored together how AI can become a driver of equity, intelligence, and humanity.
Three key recommendations emerged from the discussion:
- Create an inclusive glossary with national relevance.
- Train AI consciously, integrating inclusive language and educating AI workers about gender bias and stereotypes.
- Appoint authentic ambassadors who embody and spread the values of equity and inclusion within the organization every day.
The roundtable’s results were reported to the plenary session of the event.
Overall, I appreciated the balanced presence of women alongside male colleagues—finally a balanced representation, with many young people and even more mature professionals engaging in intergenerational dialogue. Nothing to be taken for granted!
A climate of enthusiasm, curiosity, and a desire to innovate with a positive impact on society.
The most authentic innovation arises where diversity is recognized as a value.
