Together with Chiara Sonzogni, we wrote this article for MagIA, starting with a question that has long guided us:
How can we make room—including through civic technologies—for visions of the world, the territory, and citizenship that are still underrepresented?
We discuss care as infrastructure, participatory mapping, and often invisible bodies and knowledge. But above all, how to rethink cities (and their inhabitants) with a feminist and intersectional perspective.
Technologies are not neutral, but they can be powerful tools for building a more inclusive citizenship, capable of recognizing needs, relationships, and experiences often excluded from decision-making processes.
And they can make a significant contribution: for example, the mapping of the Emilia-Romagna Region made good use of AI by using this technology to identify place names named after women.
