On Tuesday, May 5th, the Calvino Library in Turin hosted the first event of “Trame d’ascolto,” a project supported by the Piedmont Region and born within the framework of Narrazioni Parallele, of which Cultura e Salute is a partner.
With this association, founded to address active aging, I am committed to addressing another emerging difference in our society.
The approach is to look to the future, considering all generations, leaving no one behind, in an intergenerational exchange, including between different cultures.
In particular, this project draws attention to hearing loss: a widespread condition, especially with advancing age, which can contribute to social isolation and, over time, cognitive decline.
This event featured a piano and vocal performance between Asia and Europe, with Claudia Lupo and Chiara Sonzogni, and was designed to be accessible to people with hearing impairments. The goal is to encourage broader participation in cultural life, also through the use of listening technologies.
The initiative is part of a broader effort to raise awareness not only among the public, but also among those who organize cultural events, about the importance of accessibility for people with hearing loss, especially older ones.
An opportunity to reflect on how to make culture increasingly inclusive.
