On Thursday, April 29, I had the pleasure of participating in the conference “Artificial Intelligence and the Protection of Fundamental Rights: The Challenges of Equality and the Fight against Discrimination,” organized by Fidapa BPW Italy – Milan Section, at the Regional Council of the Lombardy Region.
This stimulating discussion is part of my commitment to promoting greater awareness, especially among women, of the complex times we are experiencing, also as a member of the National Working Group on Innovation, AI, and Robotics and the representative of the Northwest District of FIDAPA – BPW Italy.
Artificial intelligence is not neutral: it can amplify existing gender and social inequalities, but it can also be a powerful accelerant for reducing them, if designed and managed responsibly.
My presentation was accompanied by that of Professor Ruben Razzante, who emphasized the importance of AI regulation at all levels of government, with particular attention to the supranational dimension. In this scenario, the role of international institutions and ongoing initiatives, including within the UN, is crucial.
The future of AI depends on the choices we make today: this is why it is essential to continue building spaces for dialogue, awareness, and shared responsibility, like the one we saw yesterday.
