This is the highest number ever recorded by the United Nations.<br \/>\nA world in which women are among the most exposed and, at the same time, systematically excluded from the decision-making processes where peace is built.<\/p>\n<p>I wanted to expose an often-removed truth: vulnerability and leadership are not contradictory.<br \/>\nWomen suffer disproportionately from war, but when they are involved in prevention, negotiations, and reconstruction, agreements last longer, communities heal better, and peace becomes more stable.<\/p>\n<p>From <strong>UN Resolution 1325 of 2000<\/strong> to the most recent data, it is clear that:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>sexual violence in conflict has increased by 87% in recent years;<\/li>\n<li>in contexts like Gaza, Sudan, and Afghanistan, women are experiencing extreme crisis;<\/li>\n<li>in international negotiations, women remain less than 7% of negotiators.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Yet, precisely in these devastated places, women hold together what war separates: care networks, essential services, and community resilience.<\/p>\n<p>The transition from vulnerability to leadership requires three strategic levers:<br \/>\n&#8211; social and infrastructural reconstruction with women&#8217;s participation;<br \/>\n&#8211; political representation and presence at negotiating tables: without women, peace is incomplete;<br \/>\n&#8211; economic leadership, because financial autonomy is the foundation of freedom and power.<\/p>\n<p>The final message is simple and non-negotiable: it&#8217;s not enough to protect women; we must include them as protagonists.<br \/>\nThere is no lasting peace without their vision, their experience, and their leadership.<br \/>\nVulnerability is not destiny: it is a condition that can be transformed if women are finally recognized as builders of the future.[\/vc_column_text]<div class=\"dfd-spacer-module\"  data-units=\"px\" data-wide_resolution=\"1280\" data-wide_size=\"40\" data-normal_resolution=\"1024\" data-normal_size=\"40\" data-tablet_resolution=\"800\" data-tablet_size=\"20\" data-mobile_resolution=\"480\" data-mobile_size=\"20\" style=\"height: 40px;\"><\/div>[\/vc_column][\/vc_row]<\/p>\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_single_image source=&#8221;featured_image&#8221; img_size=&#8221;full&#8221; css=&#8221;&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]My presentation last week at the conference organized by the University of Florence for November 25th began with a fact we cannot ignore: in 2025, 676&hellip; <a class=\"continue\" href=\"https:\/\/www.monicacerutti.com\/en\/from-vulnerability-to-leadership-women-at-the-heart-of-peace-and-reconstruction\/\">Continua a leggere<span> From vulnerability to leadership: women at the heart of peace and reconstruction<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":4,"featured_media":48863,"comment_status":"closed","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[3605,3609],"tags":[3614,3615,3653,3656],"class_list":["post-48867","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-gender-equality","category-un-women-italy","tag-gender","tag-gender-equality","tag-gender-violence","tag-violence-against-women"],"yoast_head":"<!-- This site is optimized with the Yoast SEO plugin v26.5 -
